The ask
Overview: Survive the challenge. Solve the science. Reach the safe zone. The Last of Us is an immersive, team-based adventure that puts participants in a post-invasion survival scenario where science and engineering are the key to survival. Teams will navigate through a series of challenging checkpoints, each designed around practical concepts from Chemical Engineering, chemistry, physics and process engineering . Across multiple hands-on challenges, teams will test their critical thinking, teamwork, agility, creativity and practical problem-solving skills. From decoding hidden messages and optimizing chemical reactions to building filtration systems, managing simulated reactor emergencies and generating electrical energy, every challenge brings a new test of skill. Event Challenges: Chemical indicators and pH-based code breaking Stoichiometric calculations and reaction optimization Pressure and propulsion systems Polymer synthesis and material properties Mass balance and thermal management Density, buoyancy and fluid systems Polymer-based filtration and separation Aerodynamics and controlled airflow Reaction rate and process control Packed-bed columns and emergency response Electr…
